Senior Electrical Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION
IEC Corporation is seeking Senior Electrical Engineers with power industry experience to support electrical power projects for our Sacramento, California office. Specific work will include the design of renewable energy projects, power plants, substations, and electrical service facilities and the preparation of complete design and construction packages with all required electrical drawings including one-lines, schematics, elementaries, wiring diagrams, layouts, SCADA drawings, etc.

The primary duties of the Senior Electrical Engineer are to provide engineering, design, and project management services for power plant electrical systems. The Senior Electrical Engineer may direct the activities of other electrical engineering professionals, and act as a mentor to other staff members. The candidate may assume the Electrical Lead on projects and stamp electrical drawings as well. This position will entail working with other engineering disciplines and interfacing with clients to successfully manage projects.

REQUIRED SKILL SET & EXPERIENCE

Senior Electrical Engineers should possess:

  • Familiarity with the design of electrical power systems for generating stations, renewable energy projects, substations, or distribution lines. 
  • Working experience in various aspects of power system design, construction, relay protection, and problem solving with little supervision.
  • Experience performing feasibility study, due diligence, system design, basic design, specification writing, detailed design, cost estimation, and engineering support during construction phase.
  • An ability to provide guidance to Associate Electrical Engineers on electrical systems and review engineering design of less experienced/junior engineers.
  • An ability to contribute to preparation and delivery of presentations to customers.
  • Senior Contributor qualities such as the ability to lead functional project teams.

Candidates must have: Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering and a minimum of four (4) years of similar experience with specific work in the power industry and a California Professional Engineer's license. Candidates must also be computer literate with knowledge of typically-used electrical engineering analysis programs and possess a desire to pursue growth opportunities.
