Solar Designer

Job Description

IEC Corporation is seeking a Solar Designer to provide technical design support for solar photovoltaic (PV) projects for our Sacramento office. The candidate will report to the Project Manager and is responsible for designing and permitting code-compliant solar photovoltaic systems for IEC’s commercial, public agency, and municipal clients. Candidate will perform work under the supervision of in-house engineers. Candidate will be responsible for preparing submittal packages and guiding the project towards a complete set of approvals and construction drawings. The position relies heavily on civil, structural, and electrical engineering concepts and calculations. The ability to be detail-oriented is required, and the ideal candidate will be able to manage a large volume of projects while demonstrating excellent organization and communication skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design Commercial and Utility Level Photovoltaic projects
- Manage the early stages of project planning and design
- Assist with completing interconnection applications
- Responsible for complete project bill of materials, drawings and specifications

Required Skill Set & Experience

- One (1) year experience in PV solar design of systems greater than 200kW

- Advanced level of AutoCAD
- Strong math aptitude
- Understanding and working knowledge of PV and electrical systems

- Good organization skills
- Computer proficiency
- Efficient time management

ADDITIONAL SKILLS DESIRED
- PV, NABCEP, Electrician, or other industry certifications

- Familiarity with (NEC) National Electrical Code and/or CA Building Code (CBC)
- Permitting knowledge/experience

- Roofing knowledge/experience
