Silicon Valley Power Enlists IEC to Provide Preliminary Engineering for Cogeneration Facility

Sacramento, Calif., July 21, 2006 – Silicon Valley Power (SVP) has enlisted IEC to perform preliminary engineering services for its cogeneration facility. The scope of work is based on the option of replacing (2) two existing Alison 501-KB5 gas turbines with comparable but more efficient gas turbines.

IEC will perform this feasibility study as an engineering step to support air emission reduction efforts and provide engineering insights for gas turbine replacement options to increase overall plant efficiency. Once the gas turbine manufacturer research is completed, IEC will provide SVP with a recommendation report detailing the best overall turbine and options to optimize the steam cycle. Silicon Valley Power will then be able to use the information to quantify the economics of this upgrade.
