![]() IEC Completes Central Utility Plant Study for California Prison Sacramento, Calif., October 29, 2008 – IEC conducted a technical and economic feasibility study of combined heat and power (CHP) for a major Northern California prison (site confidential) using fuel cells, engines, and turbines as the prime movers. The study, conducted for the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD), evaluated the cost and equipment selection to build, own, and operate a cogeneration plant to serve the prison buildings. Many options and iterations were performed as part of this study based on SMUD requests. A detailed report was prepared and presented to SMUD and prison to help them choose the best options for this potential project. |
