IEC Completes Redundant Meter Analysis for NCPA

Sacramento, Calif., January 29, 2010 – The Northern California Power Agency (NCPA) is planning to extend the required response time of California Independent System Operator (CAISO) revenue metering data failure from 12 hours to the optional 120 hours by adding redundancy to the CAISO revenue metering. The NCPA plans to add redundancy to a total of thirty (30) revenue meter points at twenty (20) different sites through California. IEC performed preliminary evaluations of existing site drawings and equipment, reviewed CAISO documentation and requirements for meter redundancy, and developed preliminary specifications to obtaining budgetary cost estimates for equipment and installation. IEC is now performing detailed engineering, equipment procurement services, and field engineering support during the installation process.
