IEC Provides PV Engineering Support for SMUD

SMUD has hired IEC Corporation to support its PV Repowering / Decommissioning Project. SMUD has been operating a fleet of utility-scale PV assets since 1984. Several of these PV arrays have reached or are near the end of their economic life as evidenced by performance degradation, increased maintenance requirements, or equipment obsolescence. A plan has been developed to begin decommissioning some of the older arrays, and in one case, investigate a repowering using the existing structure and grid interconnection. IEC is providing engineering support to develop cost estimates for array decommissioning (and/or repowering).
