Central Utility Plant for California Prison

Client: Sacramento Municipal Utility District

IEC conducted a technical and economic feasibility study of combined heat and power for a major Northern California prison (site confidential) using fuel cells, engines, and turbines as the prime movers. The study evaluated the cost and equipment selection to build, own, and operate a cogeneration plant to serve the prison buildings. IEC evaluated multiple options and iterations as part of this study based on SMUD requests. A detailed report was prepared and presented to SMUD and the prison to help them choose the best options for this potential project.
