![]() Landfill Gas Study
LOCATION: Sacramento, CA The Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) needs budgetary estimates of the cost to transport and scrub Kiefer Landfill gas to make it into suitable fuel for a natural gas turbine. IEC was tasked with addressing the requirements and equipment to treat and compress the gas for delivery to the District-owned Cosumnes Power Plant (CPP). To complete the study, IEC used existing gas quality data from previous work with local landfills to determine the likely constituents and chemistry for Kiefer Landfill Gas and the requirements for cleaning the gas to make it compatible with PG&E Rule 21. IEC also performed a preliminary routing study to identify possible routes to connect to SMUD’s existing gas pipeline and choose the most likely route. IEC analysts then developed a budgetary cost estimate for the project. |
