Transmission Study for Solano Wind Project

SMUD tasked IEC with providing a transmission study to prepare for the next phase of the Solano Wind Project. IEC provided technical and project management support to SMUD’s Project Manager during the CAISO study and transmission agreement process. Our responsibilities included: gathering the required data from vendors; developing conceptual technical requirements for the design of the required substation and wind project, including basic equipment lists and ratings; determining possible substation locations and interconnection configurations; and developing a list of typical electrical features, systems, and ratings for a wind project of this size. IEC also worked with CAISO and PG&E on the District’s behalf throughout the process.
