Algonquin Power Sanger AGC Project

 IEC was contracted to implement Automatic Grid Control (AGC) in the plant DCS for the Algonquin Power Sanger CAISO Conversion Project.

Based on the success of the CAISO Conversion project for the Sanger combined cycle power plant, IEC was contracted to perform the next phase of the project to implement Automatic Grid Control (AGC) in the plant DCS. IEC incorporated curve-based modeling results from previous GateCycle modeling tasks into the AGC logic. A new AGC screen was developed to display the critical plant parameters. Upon completion of the project, the plant DCS was able to control the net power output to meet the CAISO Dispatch Operating Targets (DOT) requirement automatically. The AGC Control had the ability to decide the gas turbine MW setpoint and turn on/off number of stages in the fogging system to meet the DOT MW requirement.
