For the International Paper Mansfield Repower Project, IEC was awarded the Engineering Design and Construction contract to repower an aging GE Frame 5 turbine package with a GE/WattStock TUREPackage with LM6000 PF SPRINT turbine.
During the Engineering Design phase, IEC developed a detailed 3D model and engineered the necessary Issued for Construction (IFC) documents (including demolition, mechanical, electrical, civil, structural, and instrumentation and control drawings).
During the Outage Conversion phase, IEC’s scope of work included 1) removing the GE Frame 5 turbine package and placing it in storage area in resalable condition and 2) installing the new repower equipment. IEC was contracted to complete the construction within four (4) weeks based on client’s outage schedule. IEC provided 24-hour around the clock construction along with on-site field engineering and management (same staff during design phase) to support the construction progress seamlessly. IEC was able to complete the construction scope on time and on budget for startup and commissioning.
Throughout the project, IEC took every measure and went above and beyond the scope of work to demonstrate IEC’s commitment and team spirit to the overall project success. IEC expedited the engineering without change orders to maintain the construction start date and worked around the clock (24/7) for 3 weeks to achieve substantial completion.
