Pine Canyon Wind Project

IEC assisted LADWP with evaluating the wind resource potential for the Pine Canyon Wind Project.

CLIENT:

LOS ANGELES DEPARTMENT OF WATER AND POWER

The Pine Canyon Project, a wind power generation facility that was to be designed and owned by the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP), was undergoing preliminary engineering design and data analysis to verify its wind potential. Accurate wind potential data gathered from Meteorological (MET) towers would ultimately govern the project’s scope and strategically determine the placement of the turbines. To assist LADWP in this process, IEC evaluated the wind resource potential of a large wind project in rugged terrain and developed a wind forecasting arrangement for all the utility’s wind energy sources. Our wind energy experts advised the utility on the benefits and drawbacks of the available models of wind turbine generators applicable to the project site.
