Mojave Union School District PV Installations (6 Sites)

Solar Installations (6 Sites) for the Mojave USD.

CLIENT:

MANTECA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT

IEC provided complete Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) services for installation of photovoltaic (PV) systems at six (6) school sites within the Mojave Union School District (MUSD) district.

The installations consist of PV modules installed on both fixed-tilt ground mounted structures and elevated shade structures along with DC to AC inverters and other electrical, structural, and mechanical supporting equipment. The total installed solar capacity at the six sites is approximately 1,274 kilowatts (or 1.27 megawatts). These installations were funded by government low-interest bonds and California Solar Initiative (CSI) rebates. Construction began in winter 2012 and the systems became operational in Fall 2013.

The solar PV systems are expected to produce an estimated 1.9 million kWh per year. Any excess energy produced is exported to the grid and MUSD is compensated by PG&E for the time-of-use value of the energy through net-energy metering. The solar systems are expected to significantly reduce the District’s utility bill.
