IEC provided owner’s engineering support for a relay protection upgrade at the Chicago Park Hydroelectric facility. The project was midway through the detailed design phase when IEC was asked to provide support. During the design review phase of the project, IEC identified several technical issues that could have significantly derailed the project budget and schedule. NID elected to call upon IEC to provide an expedited detailed design and onsite construction support to install 3-phase PT’s for the project. IEC developed a specification and expedited purchasing of three new high voltage potential transformers and completed the detailed foundation and interconnection design in only a few weeks to keep the project on schedule.
