As part of a master services contract, IEC's project team provided as-needed technical support for the Camino Unit 2 hydro refurbishment work. To complete the refurbishment, SMUD scheduled an outage for the Camino Unit 2 that involved refurbishing wicket gates, replacing bushings, wear plates, seal rings, and runner change-out. IEC's assigned hydro engineer was also tasked with collecting filled-in measurement data forms from mechanics, assisting in the review and analysis of measurement data, advising the Task Manager of field problems requiring Mechanical Engineering support, assisting in resolution of field problems, and advising the Task Manager of any hand tools. Work also included preparing a chronological log of disassembly and reassembly activities and describing in detail the sequence of activities, field problems, and technical resolution to field problems. This log will serve as guide to future SMUD personnel who may be involved with planning for future refurbishment projects whether at Camino or other powerhouses.
