IEC conducted a study on the technical and economic feasibility of combined heat and power (CHP) for the Kaiser Permanente Sacramento Medical Center. The feasibility study evaluated the cost to build, own, and operate a reciprocating engine cogeneration plant to serve the Medical Center. The most economical equipment configuration for this study was a single 1,100kW natural gas reciprocating engine which recovered waste heat in the form of steam and hot water.
